RAADS-R Test Assessment
About the RAADS-R Test
The Ritvo Autism and Asperger Diagnostic Scale-Revised (RAADS-R) is a validated self-report questionnaire designed to identify adults with autism spectrum disorders. Developed by Dr. Ritvo and colleagues, this test consists of 80 questions that assess four domains:
Social Relatedness
Assesses challenges in social interactions, understanding social cues, and forming relationships.
Language
Evaluates communication patterns, language comprehension, and expression difficulties.
Sensory/Motor
Identifies sensory sensitivities, motor coordination issues, and perceptual experiences.
Circumscribed Interests
Measures intense interests, repetitive behaviors, and resistance to change.
Important Note:
This test is a screening tool, not a diagnostic instrument. A score above the threshold suggests autism traits but does not confirm a diagnosis. Professional assessment is necessary for a formal diagnosis.
Test Validity and Accuracy
Validation Studies
The RAADS-R has been validated in multiple studies with high sensitivity (97%) and specificity (100%) in differentiating between individuals with autism spectrum disorders and neurotypical controls.
Score Range
The total score ranges from 0 to 240. A score of 65 or higher is considered the threshold for suggesting autism spectrum traits.
| Score Range | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| 0-64 | Below threshold for ASD |
| 65-130 | Mild to moderate ASD traits |
| 131-190 | Moderate to strong ASD traits |
| 191-240 | Strong ASD traits |
